Is the Super E for Me? Electric Cultivation Tractor FAQ

Super E
We’ve been hearing a lot of great questions about the New Electric Cultivating Tractor, so in this blog we cover some of the most common ones we get from growers considering a cultivation tractor.

If you’ve been asking yourself “Is the Super E for me?”, this article should help clarify what the machine is designed for — and who it fits best.

What Is the Super E Designed For?

It's built primarily for:

  • Planting
  • Cultivation
  • Side Dressing
  • Hilling

This is not a utility tractor meant for tillage, hay work or heavy pulling applications. The Super E is purpose-built for precision cultivation and planting for diversified vegetable, cut flower and nursery farms.

What Spacing Does It Work Best With?

The Super E tire system is fixed:

  • Approximately 50" between the tires
  • Roughly 56" on center

It's a great fit for:

  • 3-row cultivation setups at 15"
  • 45" beds

If your system is significantly wider than that, the Super E may not be the right fit.

Does It Have a Rear Toolbar or Towing Capacity?

No — the Super E does not include:

  • A rear 3-point toolbar
  • Pulling or towing capacity

You can scratch out tire tracks, but this machine is focused on front-mounted cultivation and planting tools.

How Long Does the Battery Last?

The Super E can hold up to four removable batteries.

Each battery:

  • 50 amp hour
  • 48 volt

Expected runtime:

  • About 1–2 hours per battery depending on conditions
  • Most growers average around 1.5 hours per battery
  • Up to 6–8 hours total with four batteries

How Does Charging Work?

You can:

  • Charge batteries directly on the tractor
  • Remove and charge them individually
  • Use an external charging accessory for up to four batteries at once

Charging times:

  • 12 amp charger: approximately 3 hours per battery
  • 25 amp charger: approximately 1.5 hours per battery

All charging works from a standard 120V wall outlet.

What About Maintenance?

The Super E is designed to be simple and low maintenance.

Because it's electric:

  • Fewer moving parts
  • No engine maintenance
  • No complicated drivetrain systems

The tractor uses a proven electric transaxle system similar to what's been used in golf carts for years.

And like all Tilmor equipment, we stand behind it with:

  • Service support
  • Digital resources
  • Video support
  • Parts and service from Northeast Ohio

What Makes the Super E Different?

Visibility

One of the biggest advantages is visibility.

The operator sits lower and closer to the tools, giving an exceptional view of the cultivation area. This makes precision work easier and also allows more room for stacking multiple tools underneath the tractor.

Easy Tool Changes

Like other Tilmor machines, the Super E is designed for quick tool changes.

That means you can:

  • Switch between cultivation and planting quickly
  • Handle multiple tasks in one day
  • Avoid needing multiple tractors set up with different tools
Easy To Use

The Super E works especially well for growers who:

  • Want a simpler machine to operate
  • Have employees new to tractor operation
  • Want easier operator training
  • Prefer not to manage clutches and traditional tractor controls

Many growers have told us they feel more comfortable putting newer operators on the Super E compared to older cultivation tractors.
